    • Ber vertrekt op 14-jarige leeftijd naar Oudenbosch en doet zijn intrede als broeder Eduardus in het broederklooster. Van 1935 tot 1943 werkte broeder Eduardus als onderwijzer in Alkmaar, wat niet erg succesvol was omdat hij geen orde kon houden. Later werd hij algemeen econoom.
